Qualified tutor Cherie Vize provides tuition for primary and high school students and Adults throughout the Sydney metropolitan area. A private tutor can give a student the individual attention that is just not possible in a school setting. One-on-one tuition can be tailored to suit the needs of the individual and is therefore a powerful and efficient way to help a student reach their finest drawing potential.
Australian Sydney based Fine Artist Cherie Vize has been teaching Art classes for over 2 years to a variety of ages and levels of beginners to advanced art students from 5 yrs and up.
Giving individual attention to each of her students in a comfortable location, the student can focus & engage in the lesson , whether it be one on one tuition, or to a class of 10.
Art classes are structured specifically to a curriculum, which is followed until finished.
The curriculum includes:
50 % theoretical , 50% practical.
1. Learning how to draw from the basics up. Beginners / Intermediate and Advanced classes
This class is suited to all ages.
Topics covered include:
- Understanding your pencil - tonal values
- Basic shapes, Geometric shapes
- Gestural drawing – drawing your initial shape of your subject.
- Drafting – correcting your mistakes
- Accurate drawing
- Establishing the right width and length and adding your final details
- Controlling your pencil properly when shading
2. Learning how to paint from the basics up in Acrylics.
Beginners / Intermediate and Advanced classes.
This class is suited to all ages.
Topics covered include:
- Learning about what art materials to use when using acrylic paint
- Learning about reliable brands of acrylic paint
- Understanding how to preserve your canvas before painting, how to create a smooth surface to paint on with the right materials.
- How to transfer your drawing onto your canvas with the correct materials.
- How to establish what direction your light source is coming from in your painting
- Using universal colors throughout your painting correctly
- How to begin an Under painting
- How to build up your painting the correct way - how to blend colors effectively
- How to finish your painting
3. Learning how to paint from the basics up in Oils. Beginners / Intermediate and Advanced classes.
This class is suited to ages to ages 12 and up.

4. Learning how to paint from the basics up, in Watercolor.
Beginners / Intermediate, and Advanced classes.
- Learning about what the right materials for watercolor painting
- How a watercolor dries depending on how much color you lay onto your paper
- How to keep your paper stable before beginning your painting. Using the correct materials
- Different techniques used in watercolor
- Testing your colors on paper before beginning your water color painting
- How to lift off dark colors off your paper the correct way
- How to finish your watercolor painting.
Group demonstrations are held regularly at the beginning of class, demonstrating how to use a variety of mediums, to ensure students understand thoroughly what is being instructed.
Excellent results are achieved each and every lesson benifiting the student , bringing out fine results in their work and a broader understanding of each medium. It doesn't matter If you don't have an artistic bone in your body. I will teach you the structure, of how to draw anatomically correct where you can apply it to every drawing or painting you start.

What most artists don't realize, is drawing is the foundation to every artwork. I am a firm believer in this concept.

My student had her first class with me last week and I taught her how to draw accurately with structure.
Step by step we completed an exercise of a cat together, and I couldn't be happier with her progress ! She kept saying " I drew a cat ! I drew a puddy cat ! " it was too cute.
It's so refreshing seeing my students grow each week, there's no words for how happy I am.
